how to block your number

You can block your phone number from showing on the recipient's caller ID in several ways:

Temporary Number Blocking (Per Call)

  • Dial *67 before the phone number you want to call. This will make your number appear as "Private" or "Blocked" on the receiver's caller ID for that call only. You must dial *67 before each call you want to block
  • Alternatively, on some networks, dialing #31# before the number also blocks your number for that call

Permanent Number Blocking (All Calls)

  • On Android:
    1. Open the Phone app.
    2. Go to Settings > Calls or Additional Settings > Caller ID.
    3. Select "Hide number" or "Never" to block your number on all outgoing calls.
To unblock for a single call, dial *82 before the number
  • On iPhone:
    1. Go to Settings > Phone > Show My Caller ID.
    2. Turn off the toggle to hide your number on all calls
  • If you cannot find these settings or want carrier-level blocking, contact your mobile carrier and request permanent caller ID blocking. Some carriers offer apps or services to manage this

Additional Notes

  • Blocking your number does not work for emergency numbers (like 911) or toll-free numbers
  • Some recipients may have settings to reject calls from blocked or private numbers.
  • You can use *82 to unblock your number temporarily if your call is rejected due to blocking

These methods allow you to control when and how your phone number is displayed to others when you make calls.
