To change the region of a Nintendo Account, follow these steps:
- Go to the Nintendo Account website and sign in to your account.
- Select "User Information" or "User Info."
- In the "Profile" section, click "Change" next to the country/region field.
- Choose the desired country/region from the dropdown menu.
- Select "Save changes."
- Read the information about changing your country/region and confirm by selecting "I agree."
Important notes:
- You cannot change the country/region if you have a remaining eShop balance, active automatic renewal subscriptions, or pre-orders. You need to spend the remaining balance and cancel any subscriptions/pre-orders before changing.
- The Nintendo eShop balance does not carry over to the new region.
- Child accounts (typically under 15 years old) cannot have their region changed individually; changing the family admin's region will change theirs automatically.
- Changing the account's region may affect linked Nintendo Network IDs and certain services.
Additionally, for changing the region on the Nintendo Switch console itself, go to System Settings > System > Region, select the new region, accept the End-User License Agreement, and restart the console. This method allows changing the Nintendo Account region officially and without creating a new account.
