To delete an Instagram account, the general steps are as follows:
- Log in to your Instagram account.
- Go to your profile and tap the menu icon (three horizontal lines).
- Navigate to "Accounts Center" then "Personal details."
- Select "Account ownership and control."
- Tap "Deactivation or deletion."
- Choose the account you want to delete.
- Select "Delete account" and tap "Continue."
- Follow the on-screen prompts, including providing a reason for deletion and entering your password.
- Confirm the deletion.
After confirming, your account will be set for permanent deletion, but Instagram keeps it deactivated and invisible for 30 days. During this grace period, you can log back in to cancel the deletion. After 30 days, the deletion is irreversible, although complete data removal may take up to 90 more days. For temporarily disabling your account (deactivation), you follow similar steps but select "Deactivate account," which hides your profile from others until you choose to reactivate by logging in again.
