To take a screenshot on a PC, especially with Windows 10 or 11, there are several easy methods:
- Press Windows key + Shift + S to open the Snipping Tool overlay. Then select the area you want to capture (rectangular, freeform, window, or full screen). The screenshot is copied to the clipboard and can be pasted or saved after editing.
- Press Print Screen (PrtScn) to copy the entire screen to the clipboard. Paste it into an image editor (like Paint) and save it.
- Press Windows key + Print Screen to capture the entire screen and automatically save the screenshot to the Pictures > Screenshots folder.
- Press Alt + Print Screen to capture only the active window to the clipboard. Then paste and save as needed.
- Optionally, use the Game Bar (Windows key + G) and click the screenshot button or use Windows key + Alt + PrtScn.
These are the most common and effective ways to quickly take screenshots on a Windows PC. If needed, the Snipping Tool also allows annotation and delayed screenshots.
