To do split screen (Split View) on a Mac, follow these steps:

  1. Open the two apps or windows you want to use side by side.
  2. Hover your pointer over the green button (full-screen button) in the top-left corner of one app’s window.
  3. When the menu appears, select either “Tile Window to Left of Screen” or “Tile Window to Right of Screen” depending on which side you want that app to occupy.
  4. The window will snap to that side of the screen.
  5. On the other side, your other open windows will appear as thumbnails. Click the one you want to fill the other half of the screen.
  6. You will now have two apps side by side in Split View.

Additional tips while in Split View:

  • You can drag the divider bar in the middle to adjust the size of each window.
  • To switch sides, drag a window’s title bar to the other side.
  • To replace one app with another, hover over the green button and choose “Replace Tiled Window.”
  • To exit Split View, move your pointer to the top of the screen, click the green button again, or use Mission Control to return to the desktop.

This feature works on macOS Catalina and later versions and is supported by many apps
