Drawing a simple nutcracker starts with basic shapes, then adding details like the hat, mustache, and uniform. Think of it as stacking rectangles and circles, and keep your lines light so you can adjust as you go.
Basic body shapes
- Draw a tall rectangle in the middle of your page for the nutcracker’s body, about twice as tall as it is wide.
- Add a slightly smaller rectangle on top for the head, and a long, thin rectangle above the head for the hat.
- Under the body, draw two long, thin rectangles side by side for legs, and small horizontal rectangles at the bottom for boots.
Face and hair
- Draw two circles for eyes, a small curved line for the nose, and a long rectangle under the nose for the teeth.
- Add a big, bushy mustache by drawing two curved “C” shapes coming out from each side of the nose.
- Draw wavy lines on each side of the head for hair, and a fluffy beard under the teeth if you like.
Uniform details
- Across the middle of the body, draw a horizontal rectangle for the belt, and a small square in the middle for the buckle.
- Add two vertical rectangles on each side of the body for arms, with small ovals or circles at the ends for hands.
- Decorate the jacket with straight lines and small circles like buttons and shoulder pads to make it look like a toy soldier.
Hat and boots
- On the hat, draw a band near the bottom and a simple shape on top (like a small circle or star) as a decoration.

Clean up and color
