To draw an easy snowflake, start with six simple lines like a star and then add small repeating shapes on each line to make it look icy and detailed. Use light pencil first so you can erase and adjust, then trace over with a darker pen when you like the shape.
Basic snowflake structure
- Draw one straight vertical line.
- Draw a horizontal line across its middle so it makes a plus sign.
- Add two diagonal lines through the same center so you now have 6 evenly spaced lines, like a star.
Adding simple decorations
- At the tip of each line, draw a tiny shape: a V, a small circle, or a diamond.
- Along each line, add one or two small V shapes or short lines that branch out like tiny twigs, keeping them in the same spots on every arm so it stays symmetrical.
Making it neat and finished
- Erase any extra guidelines if you drew them, checking that all six arms match as closely as possible.
- Go over the final lines with a darker pencil, pen, or marker, and optionally color the snowflake light blue or add a little shading near the center to make it pop.
