To enable iMessage on an iPhone running iOS 18 or later, follow these steps:
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
- Scroll down and tap on "Apps."
- In the Apps section, find and tap on "Messages."
- Toggle the switch next to "iMessage" to the ON position (the toggle will turn green when activated).
- You may see "Waiting for Activation" briefly; after activation, iMessage will be enabled.
- Once enabled, you can go into "Send & Receive" within Messages settings to manage which phone numbers and email addresses you want to use for sending and receiving iMessages.
Ensure you are signed in to your Apple ID in the Settings app, as iMessage requires an Apple account for activation. After these steps, you can send and receive iMessages on your iPhone, which will show as blue bubbles in the Messages app when messaging other Apple users.
