To find your network security key (Wi-Fi password), you can try the following methods depending on your device or router:
On Your Router
- Check the back or bottom of your router for a sticker with the default network security key. It may be labeled as "WPA Key," "WEP Key," "Wireless Key," or simply "Password"
- If you changed the default password or can't find it on the router, log in to the router’s web interface:
- Open a browser and enter the router’s IP address (usually 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1).
- Log in with the admin username and password (often on the router or in its manual).
- Navigate to the wireless or security settings to find the network security key
On Windows (10 or 11)
- Open Settings > Network & Internet > Advanced network settings > More network adapter options.
- Right-click your Wi-Fi network, select Status , then Wireless Properties.
- Go to the Security tab and check Show characters to reveal the network security key
- Alternatively, use Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > click your Wi-Fi network > Wireless Properties > Security tab > Show characters
On macOS
- Open Keychain Access (via Spotlight Search).
- Find your Wi-Fi network in the list, double-click it, and check Show password.
- Enter your Mac’s administrator password to reveal the key
- On macOS Ventura or later, go to System Settings > Network > Wi-Fi > Advanced, select your network, and choose Copy password
On iOS
- Go to Settings > Wi-Fi.
- Tap the "i" icon next to your connected network.
- Tap Password and authenticate with Face ID or Touch ID to see the key
On Android
- On newer Android versions, you cannot directly view the password, but you can share the Wi-Fi via a QR code.
- Go to Settings > Connections > Wi-Fi , tap your connected network, and share the QR code with others to connect
These methods allow you to find your network security key whether you are connected to the network or accessing the router directly. If you have changed the password from the default, you will need to use a connected device or router settings to retrieve it
