To get Halsin to join your party in Baldur's Gate 3, these steps need to be followed:
- Rescue Halsin at the Goblin Camp, specifically from the Worg Pen inside the Shattered Sanctum. He is found in bear form and guarded by goblins.
- Defeat the three goblin leaders at the camp to save the Emerald Grove.
- Return to Emerald Grove, where Halsin will throw a celebration at your camp recognizing the victory.
- Accept Halsin's invitation to travel with you after the celebration.
- Progress to Act 2 and travel to the Last Light Inn in the Shadow-Cursed Lands.
- Help unlock the quest "Wake Up Art Cullagh" by finding Art Cullagh's lute in the House of Healing (obtained by killing Malus Thorm).
- Return the lute to Art Cullagh and talk to Halsin.
- Assist Halsin by defending him as he performs a ritual to find and save Thaniel's body from the Shadow Curse.
- After completing these tasks, Halsin will officially join your active party.
Additional notes:
- Halsin only joins 'good' aligned characters and won't join if the player sided with goblins or made evil choices.
- Recruiting Minthara locks Halsin out of the party and vice versa, although Patch 5 has introduced some flexibility here.
This recruitment process is part of the main story progression and involves key quests in Acts 1 and 2 of the game.
