To get to the BIOS on a Windows 11 PC, there are several methods:
- At startup: Restart or turn on the computer and immediately start pressing the BIOS key repeatedly. Common keys are Del, F2, F10, or Esc. This method requires catching the initial startup screen and pressing the key quickly.
- From Windows Settings:
- Open Settings (Windows + I)
- Go to Update & Security > Recovery
- Under Advanced startup, click Restart now
- After restart, navigate: Troubleshoot > Advanced options > UEFI Firmware Settings, then Restart to enter BIOS
- Using Shift + Restart:
- Click Start and then Power
- Hold the Shift key and click Restart
- On restart, go to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > UEFI Firmware Settings > Restart to enter BIOS
- Using Command Prompt:
- Open Run (Windows + R), type cmd and press Enter
- In Command Prompt, type shutdown.exe /r /fw and press Enter
- PC will restart into BIOS automatically
- Create a shortcut to BIOS:
- Right-click desktop > New > Shortcut
- Type shutdown.exe /r /fw for location, then name and finish
- Double-clicking shortcut restarts PC into BIOS
Different computers have different BIOS keys, so if Del does not work, try F2, F10, Esc, or F12 immediately after powering on. Also, some BIOS screens show the key during the manufacturer logo screen at startup. These methods cover both entering BIOS via key press on startup and through Windows 11 system settings and commands.
