You can’t hide every comment on a YouTube channel with one universal “hide” button, but you can hide comments from a specific user, hold comments for review, remove individual comments, or disable comments on selected videos.

Hide one user’s comments

When you hide a user from your channel, their comments and other activity won’t be publicly visible on your channel. The user usually won’t be notified.

  1. Sign in to YouTube.
  2. Find one of the user’s comments on your video or channel.
  3. Select the three-dot menu beside the comment.
  4. Choose Hide user from channel.

You can also do this through YouTube Studio:

  1. Open YouTube Studio.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Open Community moderation or Community , depending on the current Studio layout.
  4. Find Hidden users under user-management or automated-filter settings.
  5. Paste the person’s channel URL and select Save.

Hide or review comments automatically

To stop potentially inappropriate comments from appearing immediately:

  1. Open YouTube Studio.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Choose Community moderation or Community.
  4. Open the Defaults or automated-filter settings.
  5. Turn on the option to Hold potentially inappropriate comments for review.
  6. Save the changes.

Held comments remain hidden until you approve, remove, or report them. YouTube also provides filtering tools for blocked words and links, although the exact labels may vary as Studio settings change.

Remove a specific comment

If you only want to delete one comment:

  1. Open the comment on your video, or find it in the Comments section of YouTube Studio.
  2. Select the three-dot menu.
  3. Choose Remove.

This deletes the comment from the video, but it doesn’t automatically hide the commenter’s future comments.

Disable comments on a video

To hide the entire comment section on one video:

  1. Open YouTube Studio.
  2. Select Content.
  3. Click the video you want to edit.
  4. Open Show more or More options.
  5. Find Comments and ratings.
  6. Set comment visibility to Disable comments.
  7. Select Save.

For future uploads, check the channel’s default comment settings in YouTube Studio and choose the appropriate comment-visibility option. Disabling comments affects the video’s comment section, while hiding a user applies to that person’s activity across your channel.
