To hide your phone number when making calls, there are several methods depending on your device and carrier:
- For a single call, dial *67 before the phone number you want to call in the US and Canada. The recipient will see your number as "Private" or "Blocked". This method only works for that call.
- To hide your number for all outgoing calls on Android, open the Phone app, go to Settings > Supplementary services or Calls, and select "Hide number" or "Never" under Caller ID. For iPhone, go to Settings > Phone and turn off "Show My Caller ID".
- Some carriers may override the settings or require you to enable caller ID blocking through their services or accounts. Contact your carrier if necessary.
- There are also third-party apps available that simplify hiding your number without manually changing phone settings, such as "Hide My Number" on Android.
- Note that texting usually does not hide your number, and some recipients may screen calls from hidden numbers or reject anonymous calls.
Use these methods responsibly and remember caller ID blocking may not work on toll-free numbers or emergency calls.
