You can check your TSA PreCheck expiration date through the official TSA KTN Lookup tool. Enter your name, date of birth and Known Traveler Number (KTN) to view your membership status and expiration date.

Check online

Use the TSA PreCheck KTN Lookup page and choose the option for TSA PreCheck. You’ll generally need:

  • Your full name as it appears in your application.
  • Your date of birth.
  • Your KTN.

If you don’t remember your KTN, the lookup page may let you retrieve it using additional identifying information.

Watch for renewal reminders

TSA’s enrollment providers send renewal notifications when your contact details are current. Reminders are normally sent six months, three months, one month and two weeks before your membership expires. These messages may come from IDEMIA or Universal Enroll, TSA’s authorized enrollment providers.

Check the sender carefully and avoid entering personal information through links in unexpected emails. Going directly to the official TSA website is the safer option.

How long does it last?

A TSA PreCheck membership generally remains valid for five years. If you also have Global Entry, NEXUS or SENTRI, your TSA PreCheck benefit is connected to that program and you should check your status through the Trusted Traveler Programs system.

If PreCheck disappears

An absent “TSA PRE” indicator on your boarding pass doesn’t always mean your membership expired. First, verify your status with the TSA lookup tool. If your KTN is active, check that your airline reservation contains the correct KTN, full name and date of birth; TSA also recommends confirming that the airline participates in PreCheck.

You can usually renew TSA PreCheck online before the expiration date, helping prevent a lapse in benefits.
