To make Google Chrome your default browser on a Windows computer (Windows 10 or Windows 11), follow these steps:
- Click the Start menu on your computer and open Settings.
- Go to Apps and then select Default Apps.
- In the search box under "Set defaults for applications," type "Chrome" and select Google Chrome from the list.
- At the top, next to "Make Google Chrome your default browser," click the Set default button.
- Optionally, review the file types and link types associated with Chrome to ensure it is the default for web-related files (like .html, .htm, http, https).
- Close the Settings window.
To make Chrome easy to access later, open Chrome, then right-click its taskbar icon and select Pin to taskbar.
On a Mac, open Chrome, go to Settings in Chrome, and under the Default browser section, click Make default.
These instructions ensure Chrome will open automatically for web links and browsing on your system.
