To make a paper boat, follow these step-by-step instructions using a rectangular sheet of paper (like A4 or US letter size):
- Fold the Paper in Half Horizontally
Take the paper and fold it in half from top to bottom, aligning the edges carefully, then crease firmly and unfold to create a center crease
- Fold in Half Vertically
Fold the paper in half from left to right, crease firmly, then leave it folded
- Fold the Top Corners to the Center
With the folded edge at the top, fold the top two corners down so they meet at the center vertical crease, forming a triangle shape at the top
- Fold the Bottom Flaps Up
Fold the bottom flap on the front side upwards, aligning it with the base of the triangle. Flip the paper over and fold the other bottom flap up as well
- Form a Triangle Shape
Fold the corners of the bottom flaps around the edges of the triangle to secure the shape. Then, open the bottom of the triangle slightly and pull apart gently to form a square shape
- Fold Bottom Corners Up
With the square shape, fold the bottom corners upward to meet the top corner on both sides, forming another triangle
- Open into a Square Again
Open the bottom of this triangle again to form a square shape by pulling apart gently
- Pull Apart to Form the Boat
Finally, hold the top two corners of the square and pull them apart slowly to open up the boat shape. Crease the bottom edges to help the boat stand
Optional: You can reinforce the corners and bottom with tape to make the boat more water-resistant if you want to float it
. This method creates a classic, simple paper boat that can float on water and is a fun craft for all ages
