To minimize a window on a Windows computer, you have several options: Using the Mouse:
- Click the minimize button (a small dash or underscore) located in the top-right corner of the window
Using Keyboard Shortcuts:
- Press Windows key + Down arrow to minimize the active window. If the window is maximized, you may need to press this shortcut twice: the first press restores the window to a smaller size, and the second press minimizes it completely
- Alternatively, press Alt + Space , then press N to minimize the current window
- To minimize all windows and show the desktop, press Windows key + D or Windows key + M. Pressing Windows + Shift + M will restore all minimized windows
- To minimize all windows except the active one, use Windows key + Home
Using the Taskbar:
- Click the app's icon on the taskbar to minimize its window. Clicking it again restores the window
These methods work on Windows 7, 10, 11, and later versions, providing quick and easy ways to minimize windows using either the mouse or keyboard
