To open Excel in Safe Mode, there are two effective methods:
- Keyboard Shortcut Method:
- Find the Excel shortcut icon on your desktop, taskbar, or start menu.
- Hold down the Ctrl key on your keyboard.
- While holding Ctrl, double-click the Excel shortcut (if on desktop) or single-click it (if on taskbar or start menu).
- You will see a prompt asking if you want to start Excel in Safe Mode—click Yes.
- Excel will open with "Safe Mode" indicated in the title bar.
- Command-Line Argument Method:
- Press Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box.
- Type "excel /safe" (without quotes) in the Open box and hit Enter or click OK.
- Excel will launch in Safe Mode.
Safe Mode disables add-ins and other customizations, allowing Excel to open with minimal features for troubleshooting purposes.
