To pay the ULEZ (Ultra Low Emission Zone) charge, the main ways are:
- Pay online on the official Transport for London (TfL) website, where you can pay per journey or for multiple days (up to 3 previous days, today, and the next day).
- Use the free TfL app, which allows payment for ULEZ charges, Congestion Charge, and Low Emission Zone charges, plus Auto Pay setup.
- Set up Auto Pay on the TfL website for automatic monthly billing if you regularly drive in the zone. This is free and protects from penalty fines.
- Pay by phone at +44 343 222 2222 (Mon-Fri, 8am-8pm).
- Payment must be made by midnight on the third day after driving within the ULEZ area.
- Avoid paying by post as it is less secure and less reliable.
If a penalty charge notice (PCN) is issued for failure to pay, the fine can be paid online or via the TfL app quoting the PCN number. Paying early can reduce the fine. The daily charge is £12.50 for most non-compliant vehicles. Electric vehicles and compliant vehicles based on emissions standards are exempt.
