To pay with Apple Pay, follow these steps depending on your device and where you are paying:
Paying in Stores or Physical Locations
Using iPhone with Face ID:
- Double-click the side button.
- Authenticate with Face ID or enter your passcode.
- Hold the top of your iPhone near the contactless payment reader.
- Wait until you see "Done" and a checkmark on the screen
Using iPhone with Touch ID:
- Rest your finger on Touch ID.
- Hold the top of your iPhone near the contactless reader.
- Wait for confirmation on the screen
Using Apple Watch:
- Double-click the side button.
- Your default card will appear; you can scroll to select another card if needed.
- Hold the watch display near the contactless reader until you feel a tap and hear a beep
To pay with a different card on iPhone or Apple Watch:
- When your default card appears, tap it to select another card.
- Authenticate as usual and hold near the reader
Paying Online or In Apps
- When checking out, tap the Apple Pay button or select Apple Pay as your payment method.
- If you want to use a card other than your default, tap "Other Cards" or "Change Payment Method."
- Enter any required billing, shipping, or contact info.
- Confirm the payment.
- Authenticate using Face ID, Touch ID, passcode, or Apple Watch button double-click depending on your device.
- On Mac without Touch ID, confirm the payment on your connected iPhone or Apple Watch
When the payment is successful, you will see "Done" and a checkmark on the screen.
Additional Notes
- Apple Pay works where you see contactless payment symbols.
- You can add credit, debit, or transit cards to your Wallet app to use with Apple Pay.
- You can also use rewards and loyalty cards with Apple Pay at participating stores
