The Speed card game is a fast-paced, two-player game where the goal is to be the first player to get rid of all your cards. Here's a summary of how to play: Setup:
- Use a standard 52-card deck without jokers.
- Each player is dealt 20 cards face down: 15 cards form a personal draw pile, and 5 cards form the player's initial hand.
- Four piles are placed between the players: 5 cards in each of the outside piles and 1 card in each of the middle piles.
- Players each pick up their 5 cards in hand from their draw pile.
Gameplay:
- Both players simultaneously flip one of the middle face-down cards face up to start two central play piles.
- Players do not take turns; the game is played simultaneously and as fast as possible.
- Players can play a card from their hand to either central pile if the card is one rank higher or lower than the top card on that pile (for example, if a 7 is on top, you can play a 6 or 8).
- The sequence loops so that an Ace can be played on a King and vice versa.
- After playing a card, players draw cards from their draw pile to keep their hand at five cards if possible.
- If neither player can play a card, both flip a card from the side piles onto the center piles to continue.
- When side piles are depleted, central stacks are reshuffled and set as new side piles.
Winning:
- The first player to play all cards in their hand and draw pile shouts "Speed!" and wins the game.
This game tests quick reflexes and sharp thinking as players race to shed their cards without waiting for turns.
