To remove a drop-down list in Excel, follow these steps:
- Select the cell or range of cells containing the drop-down list you want to remove. You can select multiple cells by dragging or holding Ctrl while clicking
- Go to the Data tab on the Excel ribbon.
- Click on Data Validation in the Data Tools group.
- In the Data Validation dialog box, under the Settings tab, click the Clear All button. This removes the drop-down list from the selected cells but keeps any existing cell values
- Click OK to confirm and close the dialog box.
If you want to remove the drop-down list from all cells in the worksheet that share the same settings:
- Select any cell with the drop-down list.
- Open Data Validation, check the box for Apply these changes to all other cells with the same settings.
- Click Clear All and then OK
This method removes the drop-down menus but retains the cell content. To also clear the cell content, use the Clear All option under the Home tab's Editing group after removing the drop-down
. This process is straightforward and works for all Excel versions that support data validation drop-down lists
