how to reset airpods

To reset AirPods to factory settings, follow these steps:

  1. Place both AirPods in their charging case and keep the lid open.
  2. Locate the setup button on the back of the charging case.
  3. Press and hold the setup button for about 15 seconds until the status light flashes amber (orange) and then white.
  4. Release the button. The AirPods are now reset to factory settings.
  5. After resetting, reconnect the AirPods to your device by opening the case near your device and following the on-screen pairing instructions.

For AirPods Pro and AirPods (2nd generation and later), the status light is on the front of the case; for earlier models, it is inside the case between the AirPods. If you have AirPods 4 or AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation, a different reset procedure involves double-tapping the front of the case three times until the light flashes amber then white.

This reset removes all paired devices and restores the AirPods to their original factory configuration, which can resolve connection, sound, and battery charging issues or prepare them for a new user.
