To reset a Kasa smart bulb, there are two types of resets: a soft reset and a factory reset. Soft Reset (resets only Wi-Fi settings):
- Turn the light switch controlling the bulb OFF.
- Quickly flip the switch ON and OFF 3 times (for some models, it's 5 times).
- Stop when the bulb lights on the third time and blinks 3 times to indicate a successful soft reset.
Factory Reset (erases all custom settings and restores factory defaults):
- Turn the light switch controlling the bulb OFF.
- Quickly flip the switch ON and OFF 5 times (for some models, it's 10 times).
- Stop when the bulb lights on the fifth time and blinks 3 times to indicate a successful factory reset.
The exact number of on/off cycles depends on the specific bulb model, for example:
- Some models reset with 3 on/off flips for soft reset and 5 for factory reset.
- Others require 5 flips for soft reset and 10 flips for factory reset.
Do each flip about 1 second apart, and do not switch too fast or too slow. After the blinking stops, the bulb is reset and ready to set up again in the Kasa Smart app.
Would it be helpful to get instructions for setting up the bulb again after reset?
