Quick Scoop
To return an Amazon item, go to Returns & Orders, find the order, choose Return or replace items , pick a return reason, then select your refund and drop-off method.
Steps
- Open Amazon on the website or app and go to Returns & Orders.
- Find the item you want to send back and click Return or replace items.
- Select the item, choose why you’re returning it, and continue.
- Pick how you want your refund, such as back to your card or Amazon balance.
- Choose a return method, like a drop-off location or pickup option, then confirm the return.
What Usually Happens Next
Amazon typically gives you a QR code or return label after you finish the request. At many drop-off spots, you can just show the QR code, and they’ll scan it for you. Some return options do not require you to print a label or use original packaging, depending on the location and item.
Gift Returns
If it was a gift, Amazon has a separate Gift Returns flow where you enter the order number from the gift receipt and then choose the item and return method. If the item was not marked as a gift, return options may be more limited.
Helpful Notes
- Refund timing can vary; card refunds often take several days, while Amazon balance refunds may be faster.
- Return eligibility depends on the item and Amazon’s return window.
- If the item is defective, wrong, or damaged, use the reason that best matches the problem.
TL;DR: Go to your orders, hit Return or replace items , choose a reason, pick refund and drop-off, then use the QR code or label to complete the return.
