To save Minsc in Baldur's Gate 3, the key steps are:
- Ensure you have recruited Jaheira in Act 2 and keep her alive.
- Have Jaheira in your party before confronting Minsc in the Sewers during Act 3.
- In the fight against Minsc, reduce his health to very low (below 5 or 10 HP).
- Use a non-lethal blow to incapacitate him as the final attack. This can be done by toggling the non-lethal damage passive available in the spellbook under common skills for certain characters.
- Do not kill Minsc by lethal attacks or spells; if he dies, you lose the chance to save him.
- After incapacitating him, insist to the Emperor (through Jaheira's influence or an Intimidation/History check) to extend protection from tadpoles to Minsc.
- This will calm Minsc and allow you to recruit him, also leading to finding and reuniting him with his companion Boo.
Key notes:
- Bringing Jaheira along is critical; without her, it is much harder or impossible to save Minsc.
- Fists or melee attacks without the non-lethal toggle will kill him, so carefully use characters with the non-lethal attack skill.
- After the fight, follow Minsc deeper to reunite him with Boo, then you can recruit him to your camp.
