To take a screenshot on an iMac, the following keyboard shortcuts can be used:
- To capture the entire screen, press Shift + Command (⌘) + 3 simultaneously. The screenshot will be saved to the desktop.
- To capture a portion of the screen, press Shift + Command + 4. Your cursor will turn into a crosshair, which you can drag to select the area you want to capture. Release the mouse button to take the screenshot.
- To capture a specific window, press Shift + Command + 4, then press the spacebar. The cursor turns into a camera icon. Click on the window you want to capture.
- For more options, press Shift + Command + 5 to open the Screenshot app, which allows capturing the screen, a window, or a selection, and also screen recording.
Screenshots taken are usually saved on the desktop and sometimes show a thumbnail preview for easy editing.
