To see archived emails in Gmail, follow these steps:
- Log into your Gmail account on a computer or mobile device.
- Access the "All Mail" folder :
- On desktop, look at the left sidebar and click More to expand the menu, then select All Mail. This folder contains all your emails, including archived ones, which do not have the "Inbox" label.
- On the Gmail mobile app, tap the three-line menu icon in the top-left corner, then scroll down and tap All Mail.
- Find your archived emails :
- Scroll through the "All Mail" list to locate the archived email.
- Alternatively, use the Gmail search bar to search by sender, subject, keywords, or other criteria. Archived emails will appear in the search results but will lack the "Inbox" label.
- To move an archived email back to your inbox :
- Open the archived email.
- Click or tap the Move to Inbox option (on desktop, this is at the top; on mobile, it may be in the menu or as an icon).
Archived emails are simply emails removed from the inbox but still stored in your account under "All Mail." They remain searchable and accessible indefinitely unless deleted
. For advanced search of only archived emails on desktop, you can use the
search query -label:inbox in the search bar while viewing "All Mail" to
filter out inbox emails and show only archived ones
