To set Google Chrome as the default browser on a Windows computer, follow these steps:
- Open the Windows Start menu and type "default browser" in the search bar.
- Select the "Choose a default web browser" or "Default apps" option from the search results.
- In the Default apps settings, scroll to the "Web browser" section.
- Click on the current default browser (usually Microsoft Edge).
- From the list of browsers, choose "Google Chrome" to set it as the default.
- Close the settings window.
Alternatively, you can set Chrome as default from within Chrome itself:
- Open Google Chrome.
- Click the three-dot menu in the top right corner.
- Go to "Settings."
- Under the "Default browser" section, click "Make default," which redirects you to the system Default apps settings to confirm.
After this, all web links will open by default in Google Chrome on your computer. This applies to Windows 10 and Windows 11 systems. For macOS or other platforms, the steps differ but can also be done from Chrome settings or system preferences.
