How to Share Your Location

Sharing your location can be very useful for meeting up with friends, letting family know where you are, or for safety reasons. Here are common ways to share your location on different devices and platforms:

1. Share Location on a Smartphone

On iPhone (iOS)

• Using Messages:
  1. Open the Messages app.
  2. Select the conversation with the person you want to share your location with.
  3. Tap the contact's name or the info icon (i) at the top.
  4. Tap Share My Location.
  5. Choose to share your location for One Hour , Until End of Day , or Indefinitely.
• Using Find My App:
  1. Open the Find My app.
  2. Tap Share My Location.
  3. Enter the contact’s name or phone number.
  4. Choose the duration to share your location.

On Android

• Using Google Maps:
  1. Open Google Maps.
  2. Tap your profile picture or initial in the top right.
  3. Tap Location sharing.
  4. Tap Share location.
  5. Choose how long you want to share your location.
  6. Select the people you want to share with from your contacts or generate a shareable link.
• Using Messaging Apps:
  Many messaging apps like WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, and Telegram allow you to share your live location directly within chats.

2. Share Location on Desktop or Web

• Google Maps:
  1. Go to Google Maps.
  2. Click the menu (three horizontal lines) and select Location sharing.
  3. Click Share location.
  4. Choose the duration and enter the email or phone number of the person to share with, or generate a link.

3. Share Location via Social Media or Messaging Apps

• WhatsApp: Open a chat → tap the attach icon → select Location → choose Share live location or send current location.
• Facebook Messenger: Open a chat → tap the “+” or four dots icon → tap Location → share live location.
• Snapchat: Open the app → swipe to the Snap Map → tap your Bitmoji → choose who to share your location with.

Tips for Safe Location Sharing

• Only share your location with trusted contacts.
• Use temporary sharing options when possible.
• Turn off location sharing when no longer needed.
