To share Wi-Fi on an iPhone with another Apple device, follow these steps:
- Prepare both devices:
- Make sure both iPhones (or iOS devices) are updated to the latest iOS version.
- Turn on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on both devices.
- Disable Personal Hotspot on both devices if it’s on.
- Ensure both devices are signed into iCloud.
- Add each other's Apple ID email addresses to the Contacts app on both devices.
- Keep the devices close to each other, within Bluetooth and Wi-Fi range
- Connect and share:
- On the iPhone that is already connected to the Wi-Fi network, unlock the device.
- On the other device, go to Settings > Wi-Fi and select the Wi-Fi network you want to join.
- A prompt will appear on the connected iPhone asking if you want to share the Wi-Fi password.
- Tap Share Password on the connected iPhone.
- The other device will automatically receive the password and connect to the Wi-Fi network
- Additional notes:
- This sharing method works only between Apple devices running iOS 11 or later.
- Devices must be in each other’s contacts with Apple ID email addresses saved.
- The password is shared securely without revealing the actual password text.
- If the automatic sharing doesn’t work, you can manually copy the password from the Passwords app on the connected iPhone and share it
This method provides a quick and secure way to share Wi-Fi access without typing or verbally sharing the password.
