To slow down a track in GarageBand, adjust the project tempo or use Flex Time on Mac, or tweak the Tempo slider on iPad/iPhone.
Mac Instructions
Open your project, then go to the Track menu and select Show Tempo Track (or press Shift + Command + T). Click the tempo line to add a point and drag it downward to reduce the BPM, slowing the entire track uniformly (note: this also lowers pitch).
For individual tracks without affecting others, double-click the track to open the editor, click the Flex icon, select the track, and enable Flex; then lower the tempo while turning on Follow Tempo & Pitch for time-stretching without pitch change.
To slow just a section, enable Flex, add tempo points with Command-click on the tempo line, and drag segments down for targeted slowdowns.
iPad/iPhone Instructions
Load your project, tap the wrench icon for song settings, then tap Tempo and slide it to a lower value for quicker playback slowdown (pitch shifts).
Use the Time slider in track settings for speed tweaks, or enable Flex for more precise edits similar to Mac.
