To take a screenshot on a Chromebook, you can use the following methods:

Keyboard Shortcuts

  • Full screen screenshot: Press Ctrl + Show Windows keys together. The Show Windows key looks like a rectangle with two vertical lines and is usually located in the top row of the keyboard (often the F5 key)
  • Partial screenshot: Press Shift + Ctrl + Show Windows , then click and drag to select the area you want to capture
  • Window screenshot: Use the Screen Capture tool (see below) to select a specific window to capture

If you are using an external keyboard without a Show Windows key, press **Ctrl

  • Shift + F5** instead

Using the Screen Capture Tool

  • Click the Settings icon at the bottom right of your screen, then select Screen Capture.
  • In the menu that appears at the bottom, choose whether to take a full screen, partial, or window screenshot.
  • You can use the space bar to switch between screenshot modes and the arrow keys or Tab key to adjust the screenshot size and position before capturing

On Chromebook Tablets

  • Press the Power button + Volume down button to take a screenshot

Where Screenshots Are Saved

  • Screenshots are automatically saved as PNG files in your Downloads folder

This method is quick and built into Chrome OS, making it the easiest way to capture your screen on a Chromebook
