To take a screenshot on a Chromebook, you have several easy options: 1.
Full Screen Screenshot:
Press Ctrl + Show windows key (the Show windows key looks like a rectangle
with two vertical lines, usually in the top row). This captures the entire
screen and saves the image automatically to your Downloads folder
. 2. Partial Screenshot:
Press Ctrl + Shift + Show windows key. The screen will dim, allowing you
to click and drag to select the area you want to capture. Release the mouse
button to take the screenshot, which will also save to the Downloads folder
. 3. Using Quick Settings (Chrome OS 103 and later):
- Click the time at the bottom right corner of the screen to open Quick Settings.
- Select Screen Capture.
- Choose to capture the full screen, a window, or a partial area
Where are screenshots saved?
All screenshots are saved as PNG files in the Downloads folder. You can
access this folder by opening the Files app from the launcher
. Additional tips:
- If you want to screenshot a specific window, some Chromebooks support pressing Ctrl + Alt + Show windows key to capture the active window.
- Screenshots are copied to the clipboard as well, so you can paste them directly into documents or emails using Ctrl + V
This method works on all Chromebooks regardless of manufacturer (Google, Samsung, HP, Acer, Asus, Lenovo, etc.)
