To tell if your AirPods are charging, check the status light on the charging case:
- If your AirPods are inside the case and the lid is open, the light shows the charge status of the AirPods. An amber (orange) light means the AirPods are currently charging, while a green light means they are fully charged
- If your AirPods are not in the case, the light shows the charge status of the case itself: amber means the case has less than one full charge remaining, and green means the case is fully charged
- When you put the case on a charger, the status light will turn on for about 8 seconds to indicate the current charge level. A steady amber light means charging is in progress, and green means fully charged
- If the light flashes amber, it indicates a problem and you may need to reset your AirPods
You can also check the charge status on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac by opening the AirPods case near the device or via Bluetooth settings, where the battery levels of both AirPods and the case will be displayed
. In summary:
- Amber light (AirPods in case) : AirPods are charging.
- Green light (AirPods in case) : AirPods are fully charged.
- Amber light (no AirPods in case) : Case is charging or has less than one full charge remaining.
- Green light (no AirPods in case) : Case is fully charged.
This light behavior helps you quickly know whether your AirPods or case are charging or fully charged
