The live-action film "How to Train Your Dragon," directed, written, and produced by Dean DeBlois, is a reimagining of the original 2010 animated film by DreamWorks Animation, itself based on Cressida Cowell's book series. It stars Mason Thames as Hiccup and features Nico Parker as Astrid, with Gerard Butler reprising his voice role as Stoick the Vast from the animated films. The story follows Hiccup, an inventive Viking who befriends Toothless, a feared Night Fury dragon, challenging the long-standing enmity between Vikings and dragons on the island of Berk. Together, they confront an ancient threat that endangers both their worlds, aiming to forge a new future of peace and understanding. The film was shot with extensive practical sets and IMAX technology to create an immersive experience, with many scenes recreated shot- for-shot from the original animation, especially Hiccup's first encounter with Toothless. Visual effects are provided by Framestore, ensuring a high level of realism. The movie premiered at CinemaCon in April 2025 and is set for theatrical release on June 13, 2025. A sequel is planned for release in 2027. This live-action adaptation aims to bring the beloved characters and story to life with cutting-edge visual effects while retaining the core themes of friendship, courage, and destiny that made the original franchise so popular
