There are three primary methods to transfer data from one iPhone to another: using Quick Start, iCloud backup, or iTunes (or Finder on Mac).
Quick Start Method
- Turn on the new iPhone and place it near the old one.
- The old iPhone will show a prompt to set up the new device.
- You scan an animation on the new iPhone with the old iPhone.
- Enter the old iPhone's passcode on the new iPhone.
- Choose to transfer data directly from the old iPhone or download from iCloud.
- Keep both devices near each other and plugged in until the transfer finishes.
iCloud Backup Method
- Make sure the old iPhone is backed up to iCloud.
- Turn on the new iPhone and follow the setup until the Quick Start screen appears.
- Choose "Set Up Without Another Device" and then "From iCloud Backup."
- Sign in with your Apple ID and select the most recent backup.
- The data will restore from the cloud, and apps/photos may continue downloading in the background.
iTunes/Finder Backup Method
- Back up the old iPhone to a computer using iTunes or Finder.
- Connect the new iPhone to the computer and restore the backup during setup.
- This may require resetting the new iPhone if already set up.
Using Quick Start is the fastest and easiest when both iPhones are available and running recent iOS versions. The other methods work well when you want to restore from a backup or do not have both phones physically close. It is recommended to keep both devices charged and connected to Wi-Fi during the process for a smooth transfer.
