To turn off biometrics (Face ID or Touch ID) on an iPhone, follow these steps:
- Open the Settings app on the iPhone.
- Scroll down and tap on "Face ID & Passcode" or "Touch ID & Passcode," depending on the model.
- Enter the device passcode when prompted.
- To disable biometric unlocking, toggle off the option labeled "iPhone Unlock."
- You can also disable biometrics for specific services like iTunes & App Store, Apple Pay, and Password Autofill by toggling off their respective options.
- After turning off these toggles, the iPhone will no longer use Face ID or Touch ID for unlocking or authentication, and you will need to enter the passcode manually.
Additionally, if you want to quickly disable Face ID temporarily (for example, in situations where you want to prevent biometric unlocking), you can press the power button and either volume button simultaneously until the Emergency SOS screen appears, which disables Face ID until the passcode is entered next time.
