To turn off Safe Search on an iPhone, there are two main places to check:
- Turn off Safe Search in iPhone Settings (Screen Time Restrictions):
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap Screen Time.
- Tap Content & Privacy Restrictions (enable if off).
- Tap Content Restrictions, then Web Content.
- Choose "Unrestricted Access" to disable web content filtering that enables Safe Search.
- Turn off Safe Search in the web browser (Safari or Chrome):
- For Safari, go to Google.com in Safari.
- Scroll to the bottom, tap Settings > Search Settings.
- Under SafeSearch Filters, select "Show explicit results" and Save.
- For Chrome, open Chrome, go to Google.com, tap the three dots menu, then Settings.
- Disable SafeSearch in Search Settings and Save.
If Safe Search is locked and cannot be turned off this way, it may be due to Screen Time passcodes or restrictions set up elsewhere. Following these steps will disable Safe Search and allow unrestricted search results on the iPhone.
