To unlock Safe Search on an Android device, follow these steps:
- Open the Google app or your preferred web browser (such as Chrome).
- Tap your profile picture in the top right corner of the Google app or go to the browser settings.
- Select "Settings," then go to "SafeSearch" or "Search settings."
- Find the SafeSearch filter option and toggle it off to disable Safe Search.
- Save your changes.
If Safe Search is locked and you can't turn it off, it may be due to parental controls (like Google Family Link), a managed account (work/school), network- level restrictions, or device admin/security apps. In such cases:
- Check if your Google account is under parental or administrative control.
- Change your Google account birthdate if it marks you as underage in the "Personal Info" section of your Google profile.
- Request your network or account administrator to unlock Safe Search.
- Switching from Wi-Fi to mobile data or using a VPN may bypass network restrictions.
Keep in mind, some restrictions are enforced by network providers or administrators and may not be possible to disable permanently on the device itself.
