To use a Vicks humidifier properly, follow these general steps based on the type of Vicks humidifier you have:
For Vicks Warm Steam Vaporizer (e.g., V150 model)
- Place the vaporizer on a firm, level, waterproof surface at least 6 inches from the wall and 4 feet away from the bedside, out of reach of children and pets.
- Unlock the steam unit from the water container by turning it counterclockwise.
- Fill the water tank with cool water up to the indicated waterline.
- Secure the steam unit back into the water container and hold for 10 seconds to seat it properly.
- To add Vicks VapoSteam inhalant, put one tablespoon into the medicine cup or water container.
- Insert up to two Vicks vapor pads into the scent pad slot if desired.
- Plug in the vaporizer and wait 10–15 minutes for visible mist to appear.
- When out of water, the vaporizer will automatically shut off.
- After use, allow the unit to cool, empty unused water, rinse, drain, and wipe dry
For Vicks Warm Mist Humidifier (e.g., V750 model)
- Place the humidifier on a firm, level, water-resistant surface at least 12 inches from the wall.
- Lift the tank using the handle on top, turn it upside down, and remove the cap by turning it counterclockwise.
- Fill the tank with cool water, secure the cap, and place it back on the base.
- Make sure the humidifier is off before plugging it in.
- To use Vicks VapoSteam, add one tablespoon of inhalant to the medicine cup only (do not add directly to water).
- To use Vicks VapoPads, insert the pad into the scent pad door and close it.
- Turn the power knob to high or low to start mist production; wait 1–2 minutes for mist.
- When the water runs out, the refill light will turn on; turn off the humidifier, wait 15 minutes for the heating element to cool, refill, and restart
For Vicks Filter-Free Cool Mist Humidifier (e.g., V4600 model)
- Place the humidifier on a firm, level, water-resistant surface at least 12 inches from the wall.
- Remove the water tank from the base, twist off the cap to unlock, and fill with cool water.
- Replace and secure the cap tightly, then place the tank back on the base.
- Ensure the humidifier is off before plugging it in.
- Turn the knob to the highest setting to reach a comfortable humidity level (ideal 40-60%).
- Adjust the mist output as desired and direct mist away from walls or furniture.
- Insert Vicks VapoPads into the scent pad door for menthol vapors.
- If white dust appears, it may be mineral buildup; use distilled water or a demineralization cartridge
Additional Tips:
- Always use cool water unless specified otherwise.
- Do not add anything other than Vicks inhalants or pads to the water or medicine cup.
- Keep the device out of reach of children and pets.
- Clean and dry the unit after each use to prevent buildup and maintain performance
