To walk in Starfield, the method depends on your platform: On PC (Keyboard):
- Press the Caps Lock key to toggle between running and walking modes. When Caps Lock is on, your character will walk instead of run, which is useful for matching NPC walking speeds or for immersion
- You can also customize this key in the settings under "Toggle Always Run" if you want a different keybinding
- Sprinting is done by holding the Left Shift key, but be aware sprinting consumes oxygen which can affect your health
On Console (Xbox controller):
- There is no dedicated toggle key for walking versus running.
- To walk, gently push the left stick forward slightly instead of fully pressing it. The more you push the stick, the faster your character moves, so a light push results in walking speed
- Unfortunately, there is no permanent toggle option on consoles yet, so you have to manually control your speed with the stick.
In summary, PC players can toggle walking with Caps Lock, while console players must control walking speed by how far they push the left stick forward
