Charlie Kirk, a 31-year-old conservative activist, was shot in the neck while speaking at an outdoor event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah on September 10, 2025. The gunman fired a single shot from the roof of the Losee Center, which overlooks the university's courtyard where Kirk was seated responding to audience questions. The shooter then fled by leaping off the roof and escaping into a nearby neighborhood. Authorities discovered a high- powered bolt-action rifle believed to have been used in the shooting in a wooded area adjacent to the university. Investigators have also collected footwear impressions and palm prints as evidence. The FBI released images of a person of interest and has offered a $100,000 reward for information leading to the suspect's capture. The shooting has been described by Utah's governor as a targeted, political assassination.
