The official death toll at the World Trade Center in New York City during the September 11, 2001 attacks was 2,753 people. This number includes 343 firefighters who died trying to rescue people. The total deaths from all the coordinated attacks on that day were 2,977 victims excluding the 19 terrorists themselves. Additional casualties occurred at the Pentagon and near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, but at the World Trade Center, the loss was 2,753 lives.
