In Article 3, power is vested in the judicial branch of the United States government. Specifically, Article 3, Section 1 of the U.S. Constitution vests the judicial power of the United States in one Supreme Court and in such inferior courts as Congress may from time to time ordain and establish. This means that the judicial power is given to the Supreme Court and any lower federal courts created by Congress. The judges of these courts hold their offices during good behavior and receive compensation that cannot be diminished while they remain in office.
