There is a slight risk of tornadoes today, September 22, 2025, in parts of the central and southern Plains, including eastern Nebraska, western Iowa, northwestern Missouri, western and southern Kansas, western and central Oklahoma, and the eastern Oklahoma and Texas Panhandles. Severe thunderstorms with the potential for tornadoes could develop this afternoon and continue into the evening in these areas. The risk for tornadoes is accompanied by other severe weather threats like damaging winds in parts of the Tennessee Valley to the lower Great Lakes as well.
