There are far more insects in the world than fish. Scientists estimate that there are about 3.5 trillion fish currently in the oceans, while the number of insects is estimated to be around 10 quintillion (10^19) or about 1.4 billion insects per person on Earth, totaling vastly more than fish. Insects also make up about 90% of all animal species and more than half of all living things on the planet, and their individual counts far surpass any other animal group including fish.
