Jack Meachum, the Carmel High School boys lacrosse coach, died in a car accident on August 22, 2023. The accident was a head-on collision on State Road 38 near Six Points Road when Meachum's vehicle was struck by a GMC Sierra driven by Brennan Smith, who also died from the crash. The GMC pickup crossed the center line, causing the collision. Meachum, 31 years old and a resident of Sheridan, Indiana, was known for coaching Carmel to a state lacrosse championship just months before his death and was highly respected in the lacrosse community.
