John Wayne Gacy killed at least 33 boys and young men between 1972 and 1978. Authorities discovered 29 bodies buried on his property outside Chicago, mostly in the crawl space of his house, and four other bodies were found along the nearby Des Plaines River. Gacy's victims were typically lured to his house with promises of work or other inducements, given drugs or alcohol, and then murdered, usually by strangulation or asphyxiation. His first known victim was 16-year-old Timothy McCoy, and his last known victim was 15-year-old Robert Piest. Five of the bodies remain unidentified.
