Kyren Lacy, the former LSU wide receiver, died by apparent suicide in April 2025. His death occurred in his car following a police chase in Houston, Texas. Authorities reported that after a pursuit ending in a crash, they found Lacy had suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Leading up to this tragic event, Lacy was facing serious criminal charges related to a fatal car accident in Louisiana in December 2024. He was accused of negligent homicide, felony hit-and-run, and reckless driving. However, his attorney later presented new evidence suggesting that Lacy was not responsible for the crash that caused the death of a 78-year-old man, showing video footage that placed Lacy's vehicle significantly behind the collision at the time of impact. Lacy's death happened just one day before he was set to appear before a grand jury regarding the accident charges. His family and former LSU teammates expressed their sorrow and called for attention to mental health following the tragedy.
